While celebrities aren’t always known to give the best health advice, they can sometimes be a good source of inspiration when making these lifestyle changes.

Below are three healthy trends the stars are talking about for 2016.

  1. Digital detox

Though the thought of unplugging from social media and digital devices may seem impossible for all of us, occasionally disconnecting from technology has a number of health benefits. Digital detox helps you not only decompress, but it’s also good for your overall posture, your neck muscles, and every part of your body. There are different ways you can do it. Just by setting an alarm clock instead of using your phone, going on airplane mode when you’re working out or refraining from emails until after you complete your morning routine, you can avoid getting the texts or using social media.

It’s also really important to power off all devices an hour before bed so their glowing screens don’t hamper your ability to fall asleep. Always have a good book or magazine available. This will stop you from just staring at your computer screen or television.

Adult camps where digital devices aren’t allowed, like Camp Grounded, are another emerging trend that will guarantee you unplug. Without electronic devices, computers, phones, or watches, they offer you a way to get back to what’s real and be more healthy.

  1. Meal-in-a-bowl

Healthy eating and weight loss are usually on top of your New Year’s Resolutions list. Experts often advise steering clear of any new fad diets. But there’s a healthy eating trend for 2016 that may be worth trying: the “meal-in-a-bowl.”

We hear about all the things we should be eating: the omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, antioxidants, healthy fats, but it can be hard to try to get them from different sources.

A good solution is to combine all of these elements into one compact dish. Christy Turlington, Tory Burch, Chrissy Tiegan are all big fans of the meal-in-a-bowl.

There are several restaurants in New York City, like by CHLOE, that are hopping on the trend and serving such dishes as quinoa, kale, and avocado all in one bowl.

  1. Mindfulness and meditation

Studies have shown meditation is really great for not only your overall health, but your cognitive health as well, including your memory.

Oprah, Lena Dunham and Barbara Walters are just a few of the many celebrities touting the benefits of mindfulness – a state of active, open attention to your thoughts and feelings.

While meditation is a big trend in Hollywood, CEOs and business people are doing it as well because they realized it helps with their work performance. There are some great apps like Simply Being or Headspace that you can use that will teach you how to do it.
